The National Electrification Administration (NEA) said the electric cooperatives (ECs) in Eastern Visayas that recently experienced interruptions due to Typhoon Bising have returned to normal operation, while the cost of damage to power distribution facilities from the typhoon was estimated at P13.76 million.
In its power monitoring report as of Wednesday (April 28), the NEA Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (DRRMD) said the six ECs in Region 8 have already completed their restoration works.
Meanwhile, the NEA DDRMD report also showed that NORSAMELCO incurred an estimated P11.8 million worth of damage due to the typhoon; SAMELCO II at P1.3 million; BILECO at P573,494; and SOLECO at P66,535 in damage.
These ECs are Samar I Electric Cooperative, Inc. (SAMELCO I), Samar II Electric Cooperative, Inc. (SAMELCO II), Eastern Samar Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ESAMELCO), Northern Samar Electric Cooperative, Inc. (NORSAMELCO), Southern Leyte Electric Cooperative, Inc. (SOLECO), and Biliran Electric Cooperative, Inc. (BILECO).
Power situation in the province of Surigao del Norte, particularly in the coverage area of Surigao del Norte Electric Cooperative, Inc. (SURNECO), was also back to normal as of last week.
In Catanduanes province, the First Catanduanes Electric Cooperative, Inc. (FICELCO) reported to the agency that it was already 95.84-percent complete with its power restoration activities.
