The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) marked World Consumer Rights Day (WCRD) 2025 with a fitting celebration focused on advancing sustainable practices among Filipino consumers, aligning with the global theme, “A Just Transition to Sustainable Lifestyles.”
The DTI’s Fair Trade Group launched the “DTI’s Sustainability Challenge: Shift today and be a smart consumer” social media campaign.
This initiative included the Sustainable Consumption Bingo Challenge, where participants earned prizes by completing daily tasks such as minimizing energy consumption and supporting local producers.
To further inspire sustainable practices, the “Sustainably Yours” activity showcased the DTI officials’ eco-friendly habits on social media, encouraging wider adoption of these practices.
“We urge businesses, consumers, and the government to collaborate in creating an environment that is resilient, inclusive, and sustainable for all of us.”
The DTI also hosted the Consumer Care Webinar Series, which provided valuable insights into sustainable living and environmental stewardship. This initiative featured sessions on leveraging ecolabels for informed product choices and a practical plastic cleanup program.
“As policymakers and advocates for sustainable consumption and consumer welfare, our collective actions today shape the future of our communities. We urge businesses, consumers, and the government to collaborate in creating an environment that is resilient, inclusive, and sustainable for all of us,” DTI Secretary Cristina Roque said.
