The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has undertaken improvement works along Iloilo City-Leganes-Dumangas Coastal Road to ensure convenient and faster access to Dumangas Roll-On Roll-Off (RoRo) Port in Iloilo province.
DPWH Region 6 Director Sanny Boy Oropel identified the completed project as the asphalt overlay of a four-lane, 5.13-lane kilometer portion, specifically in Sta. Barbara section.
“Overlaying this road with asphalt is essential for maintaining and enhancing durability of the road surface.”
“Overlaying this road with asphalt is essential for maintaining and enhancing durability of the road surface, which will ensure a smoother and more comfortable travel for motorists and other road users, especially those going to the RoRo port in Dumangas,” Oropel said.
The improved road surface will also benefit trucks and other large vehicles transporting essential goods in and out of Iloilo Province, easing accessibility in the area and boosting the local economy.
With Iloilo City-Leganes-Dumangas Coastal Road serving as a vital transportation link in the province, upgrading the road will reduce preventative maintenance costs as it increases the mobility of people and goods and services.
The asphalt overlay project was implemented by DPWH Iloilo 4th District Engineering Office in the amount of P39.1 million.
