The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has undertaken upgrading works along a major road and a farm-to-market road (FMR) to facilitate safer and more convenient travel in the municipality of Nueva Valencia, Guimaras.
Completed in Barangay Sto. Domingo is the reconstruction of a 522-meter, four-lane portion of Guimaras Circumferential Road with raising of road elevation as a flood safety measure.
“Upgrading this section will ensure the safety of road users and facilitate unhampered access and delivery of basic services.”
“Due to its proximity to the sea, this portion of Guimaras Circumferential Road is prone to water overflow which poses danger to motorists, especially during inclement weather. Hence, upgrading this section will ensure the safety of road users and facilitate unhampered access and delivery of basic services,” said DPWH Region 6 Director Sanny Boy Oropel.
Meanwhile, DPWH Guimaras District Engineering Office has also finished the concrete cement paving of a 480-meter, 2-lane FMR that connects Barangay San Roque to Barangay La Paz.
“The concrete road now ensures smooth delivery and transport of farm products.”
“The concrete road now ensures smooth delivery and transport of farm products to the market centers and other business establishments in the town proper, providing a reliable route for agricultural and community development activities,” Oropel said.
“DPWH will continue to prioritize rural development by providing better road networks that help improve accessibility, stimulate economic activities, and enhance living standards,” he stressed.
The road improvement projects were implemented in the amount of P32 million and P12 million, respectively.
