“Currently in the works is a 323.2-lineal meter slope protection structure in Barangay Magsalisi in Jaen town.”
With a total allocation of P62.3 million, the implementation of the flood control project is under the DPWH Nueva Ecija Second District Engineering Office (DEO).
The construction of the flood control project started in April 2022, with an accomplishment rate of 83.04 percent as of October 2022.
The slope protection structure will safeguard residential areas and agricultural lands in towns of Jaen, San Isidro, and Sta. Rosa in Nueva Ecija.
Targeted for completion in January 2023, the slope protection structure will safeguard residential areas and agricultural lands in towns of Jaen, San Isidro, and Sta. Rosa in Nueva Ecija from river water overflow brought by heavy rains during the monsoon and typhoon seasons.
“The flood mitigation structure is expected to prevent riverbank erosion that will improve the waterway in this part of the Pampanga River, which is considered as one the major river basins in the country,” Bonoan explained.
