The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently completed the paving of a vital road utilized daily by farmers, students, and residents in the municipality of Polomolok, South Cotabato province.
Based on a report submitted by DPWH Region 12 Director Basir Ibrahim to DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan, the new 3.5-kilometer concrete road in Barangay Maligo used to accumulate excessive dust which becomes muddy during heavy rains, posing great danger to travelling motorists and pedestrians.

“The road improvement was an important step in ensuring the safety and convenience of the local community which consists mainly of farmers and employees of surrounding pineapple plantations,” Bonoan said.
Completed in March 2024, the project implemented by DPWH South Cotabato 1st District Engineering Office has significantly improved socio-economic activities in the area by providing locals with better access to the town proper.
Aside from the 23-millimeter thick portland concrete cement pavement, the ₱76-million project also covers the provision of a 230-meter retaining wall, 241-meter lined canal, stone masonry, catch basins, and installation of 880-meters of metal guardrails with posts and reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings to minimize accidents.
