In support of Leyte’s booming tourism, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed a view deck and boardwalk in Tacloban City that showcases the city’s monumental landmark, San Juanico Bridge.
As reported by DPWH Region 8 Director Allan Borromeo, the P19.2-Million project involves the construction of a 450-meter suspended deck slab, 80-meter walkway, and landscaping works to complement the new tourist attraction.
Also part of the project is the provision of comfort rooms and a storage room for the solar generator.

The completion of the view deck has allowed locals and visiting patrons to take beautiful photos safely, do recreational activities, and help generate livelihood opportunities for the people in Leyte.

Implemented by DPWH – Tacloban City District Engineering Office, the new tourism structure was completed with allocated funding from the 2021 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
