The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a 110.88-lineal-meter slope protection along Gumain River in Barangay Cabangcalan, Floridablanca, Pampanga.
DPWH Regional Office 3 Director Roseller Tolentino, in his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan, said that the DPWH Pampanga Second District Engineering Office (DEO) oversaw the implementation of the P19.58-million project funded under the 2022 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
“The newly-built slope protection is connected to existing river walls along the waterways of Gumain River.”
According to Tolentino, the newly-built slope protection is connected to existing river walls along the waterways of the Gumain River.
“With the additional slope protection, lives and properties of residents near the river are now better protected from possible water overflow during heavy rains,” he explained.
The reduction of flooding in the area is also seen to boost local businesses in Barangay Cabangcalan and the Floridablanca Eco Park in Barangay San Pedro, which is located on the opposite bank of the river.
