Residents of Barangay Kalaneg, Municipality of Maitum, Sarangani Province are now better protected from flooding with the recent completion of the Kalaneg Flood Control Facility by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
Citing reports from DPWH Regional Office XII Director Basir Ibrahim, Secretary Manuel Bonoan said that the flood control project implemented by the DPWH under the basic infrastructure program involves the construction of 682.8-meter concrete slope protection intended to benefit residents of the low-lying Brgy. Kalaneg in Maitum, Sarangani.

“The flood control facility will safeguard residents, aquaculture, and agricultural products from the effects of flooding during heavy rains,” Bonoan added.
The construction of the ₱86.8 million flood control structure, funded under the General Appropriations Act of 2022 was implemented by DPWH Sarangani Engineering Office.
