The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has built a new seawall in Roxas City, Capiz to protect vulnerable coastal communities.
Based on the report of DPWH Regional Office 6 OIC-Director Sanny Boy Oropel, the seawall now serves as a robust coastal defense of Barangay Punta Cogon, providing enhanced safety against inclement weather conditions.
“The seawall now serves as a robust coastal defense of Barangay Punta Cogon, providing enhanced safety against inclement weather conditions.”
Undertaken by DPWH Capiz 1st District Engineering Office, the P29.1-million Punta Cogon Seawall involved the construction of a 166-lineal meter concrete seawall with anchorage piles and beams.
“Situated along the Visayan Sea, Barangay Punta Cogon is vulnerable to high tides, storm surges, and soil erosion. With the completion of the project, local residents are protected by an all-weather structure,” Oropel said.
