The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently completed two vital projects to enhance road safety and accessibility in La Union.
In his report to Secretary Manuel Bonoan, DPWH La Union 1st District Engineer Jose Ginete, Jr. identified the completed projects in the Province of La Union as the 192-linear-meter concrete dike along Baroro River in Barangay Sta. Rosa, San Juan and the 483-meter farm-to-market road linking Barangay Pao Sur and Barangay Pao Norte in San Fernando City.
“The P49 million Baroro River dike intends to curb flood risks during heavy rainfall and prevent soil erosion, ensuring the safety of residents and communities along the riverbanks,” Ginete explained.
Meanwhile, the public works official pointed out that the P4.9 million farm-to-market road project in San Fernando City now enhances access for farmers to local, regional, and national market centers, eventually improving economic opportunities for the agricultural community.
“These developments underscore DPWH’s commitment to bolstering disaster-resilient infrastructure and improving transportation connectivity in La Union, contributing to a safer, more prosperous environment for its residents and farmers.”
