The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed the preventive maintenance works along Agusan-Davao section of the Daang Maharlika in Barangay Kapatungan, Trento, Agusan del Sur, paving the way for a safer and smoother travel experience for motorists.
DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan, citing a report from DPWH Region XIII Director Alex Ramos, said that the 4.80 lane-kilometer asphalt overlay project forms part of the comprehensive widening and upgrading efforts along the Pan-Philippine Highway, also known as the Maharlika Highway—the country’s main transport backbone that interconnects Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
The scope of works of the completed project involves the application of high-quality asphalt overlay and pavement markings to ensure improved road safety and durability.

“With the implementation of this project, we are not only repairing and upgrading the existing infrastructure but also reinforcing President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr’s vision of a Bagong Pilipinas where road networks enable people to move freely, enhancing their quality of life and increasing local economic activities across the country,” Ramos explained.
Implemented by the DPWH Regional Office XIII, the asphalt overlay project was funded under the 2024 DPWH Regular Infrastructure Program in the amount of P44.3 million.
