Five barangays in the towns of Roxas, Luna, and Quezon, Isabela Province are the recipients of newly-constructed infrastructure projects implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan, citing a report from DPWH Regional Office 2 OIC-Director Reynaldo Alconcel, said that the completed projects implemented by the DPWH Isabela 2nd District Engineering Office with combined cost of P72.7 million include multipurpose and evacuation centers, river-control structure, barangay road, and a new bridge.

The other projects are the 2-lane road construction in Barangay Bantug costing P6.7 million and the P3 million multipurpose building which also serves as a barangay hall and evacuation center in Barangay Mambabanga.

Completed in the municipality of Luna is the P19-million construction of a 7.2-meter bridge with sidewalk in Barangay Macañao.

The now concrete Macañao Bridge replaces an old steel bridge frequently flooded during the rainy season.

Another multipurpose building costing P3 million was also recently completed in Barangay Arellano in the town of Quezon. The 2-storey building now serves as the barangay hall and evacuation center, equipped with facilities during emergencies.

“It is crucial that we prioritize infrastructure development in far-flung areas so we can help fulfill rural communities’ basic needs, or at least improve their way of living,” Bonoan concluded.
