The newly-renovated Dr. Lorenzo P. Ziga Memorial District Hospital in Tabaco City, Albay is now providing better quality healthcare services for the people.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in convergence with the Department of Health – Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) in Region 5 recently completed the improvement works on the district hospital facilities which include the rehabilitated and improved Infectious Disease Ward, the Head Doctor’s Quarter and Dormitory, the Nurses’ and Doctors’ Quarters, and the morgue.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan, DPWH Regional Office 5 Director Virgilio Eduarte said that with the completion of the project, the new Dr. Lorenzo P. Ziga Memorial District Hospital is now better equipped to cater to patients in the city and neighboring towns of Albay and Bicol Region.
DPWH Albay 1st District Engineering Office under the leadership of District Engineer Rainero Zerda also provided the hospital with generator sets for standby power supply, a water supply system, electrical works, plumbing, a perimeter fence, guard house, and a newly-repaired road network for the safety and convenience of ambulances and other vehicles going in and out of the hospital.
With an allocation of P121.75 million funded under DOH-CHD’s Health Facilities Enhancement Program (HFEP), the renovation of Dr. Lorenzo P. Ziga Memorial District Hospital was completed in early 2023.
