The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed an upgraded public market facility to support local businesses in Guimbal, Iloilo.
Built within an area of 768 square meters, the multi-purpose building houses numerous commercial stalls that will cater to the daily necessities and supply requirements of about 7,000 households in the town of Guimbal.
The two-storey building with better ventilation and lighting features a viewing deck, roll-up doors, and a larger selling area for stakeholders.

DPWH Regional Office 6 Director Nerie Bueno said that the renovated public market building is expected to increase the growth and consumption of local agricultural enterprises and boost the municipality’s economy.
The improvement of the public market building was undertaken by DPWH Iloilo 1st District Engineering Office in the amount of P49.2 million.
