A newly completed flood mitigation structure undertaken by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) now promotes safety and security for residents of Barangay Mainit in Boac, Marinduque.
Implemented by the DPWH Marinduque District Engineering Office, the project involves the construction of a 600-lineal meter flood control structure with steel sheet piles as a substantial component in alleviating the risks of river overflow causing damage or destruction of real properties and essential infrastructure in the area.

“The construction of the Mainit Flood Control Structure assures residents heightened safety from the threat of water overflow that has been affecting their livelihood and properties for many years,” Pacanan explained.
Prior to the construction of the river wall project, emergency responses amid natural calamities were challenging, deterring the community recovery, including repairs on damaged properties and livelihood activities.
The flood control project was completed in the amount of P86.8 Million funded under the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2023.
