DPWH FINISHES FARM-TO-MARKET ROADS IN GENSAN

Students, farmers, and other daily road users are now benefiting from an all-weather road constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Barangay Tinagacan, General Santos City.

DPWH Region 12 Director Basir Ibrahim, in his report to Secretary Manuel Bonoan, said that the paved road gives two local communities better access to schools and several agricultural and poultry farms, which serve as one of the main sources of livelihood in Purok Kabuling and Purok Lower Labay.

“This 600-meter, two-lane road provides safe travel regardless of weather conditions, making it easier for farmers to transport coconuts, mangoes, corn, and livestock to bigger market centers located in the city proper at cheaper costs.”

The project also involves the provision of a 10-meter box culvert for cross drain, stone masonry headwalls, and the application of reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings.

Implemented by the South Cotabato 1st District Engineering Office, the project was completed in January 2024 with an amount of ₱14.63 million.
