DPWH FINISHES DINAGAT ISLANDS FARM-TO-MARKET ROAD

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the Barangay San Vicente to Barangay San Roque Farm-to-Market Road (FMR) project, strengthening food security in the municipality of Tubajon, Dinagat Islands.

DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan, citing a report from DPWH Region XIII Director Pol Delos Santos, said that the FMR project, amounting P11.6 million, aims to enhance the agricultural logistics in the area, particularly benefiting the local rice farming community.

Prior to the road’s construction, farmers face significant challenges in transporting their goods due to costly and time-consuming multiple-handling processes, impacting both their productivity and income.

The completed farm-to-market road involves the construction of a 400-meter-long, 5-meter-wide concrete road, complete with essential earthworks, subbase, base course layers, surface course, and drainage and slope protection structures.

“Now that the FMR is operational, local farmers can conveniently and efficiently transport their harvests and farm inputs directly between their fields and markets.”

“Now that the FMR is operational, local farmers can conveniently and efficiently transport their harvests and farm inputs directly between their fields and markets,” Delos Santos said.

“Implemented by the DPWH Dinagat Islands District Engineering Office, the FMR Project in Tubajon, Dinagat Islands, highlights the department’s commitment in supporting the agricultural sector and rural development,” he added.
