The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a section of the Catanauan Diversion Road in the fast-growing town of Catanauan, Quezon Province.
DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan, citing a report from DPWH Region IV-A Director Jovel Mendoza, said that the construction of the diversion road provides an essential alternative route for motorists, particularly during times of calamity when existing roads become impassable due to flooding in low-lying areas.
Funded under the 2024 DPWH Regular Infrastructure Program is the construction of a 626-linear-meter diversion road project in the amount of P34.3 million.
This includes 574 linear meters of concrete pavement, a 78-meter four-lane concrete road with shoulders, and multiple cross drains to ensure proper drainage and prevent flooding.
“The new road will ease congestion in urban centers, improve connectivity among municipalities in the 3rd District of Quezon, and serve as a crucial link for trade and commerce.”

The completion of a section of the Catanauan Diversion Road is a significant milestone in Quezon Province’s infrastructure development, an answer to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s promise to continue prioritizing road projects outside Metro Manila.
