The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has facilitated more convenient travel along a section of the Daang Maharlika through a completed parallel bridge project in Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur.
According to DPWH Regional Office 13 Director Pol Delos Santos, the 189-lineal-meter Andanan Parallel Bridge along Daang Maharlika proved effective in improving traffic movement as it doubles the allowed vehicular volume passing the existing bridge in Barangay Andanan, Bayugan City.
“The Andanan Parallel Bridge improved traffic movement as it doubles the allowed vehicular volume passing the existing bridge in Barangay Andanan, Bayugan City.”
Implemented by the DPWH Agusan del Sur First District Engineering Office (DEO) in the amount of P11.43 million, the constructed road approaches on both ends of the Andanan Parallel Bridge measure 322.5 square meters complete with concrete curve, gutter, and sidewalk spanning 225.75 square meters.
Installation of reflective thermoplastic pavement markings, 33 solar illuminated levelled marker studs on both directions, and 18 solar LED street lights strategically positioned along the parallel bridge were also included in the project for optimal visibility even in low-light conditions.
“Andanan Parallel Bridge was constructed under the first phase of the project. Through the completed road approaches under the second phase, the parallel bridge has been finally opened to serve the motoring public,” Delos Santos explained.
With the Andanan Parallel Bridge fully operational, traffic congestion along the portion of the national highway in Bayugan City has been significantly reduced, allowing for smoother and safer travel experience for all road users, he added.
