A high ranking official of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) attended the Korea-Philippine Infrastructure and Plant Forum and the Korea-Asean Project Plaza in Taguig City recently organized by Korean Embassy in Manila with the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA).
DPWH Senior Undersecretary Emil Sadain represented Secretary Manuel Bonoan at the gathering intended to be a sharing experience between the governments of the Republic of Korea and the Philippines on infrastructure development with Filipino and Korean construction and engineering companies participating to explore the opportunity to find business partners.
The forum was also attended by Department of Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista, Korean Ambassador to the Philippines Lee Sang-Hwa, and KOTRA Manila Director General Lee Sujung.
Sadain said that the fora, along with the representatives of other neighboring countries, is a great opportunity to forge new business alliances and to showcase projects in the pipeline which will soon benefit Filipino people.

The alliance between Korea and the Philippines extends far beyond economic cooperation but also technology transfer, educational exchange, and disaster relief efforts.
This has been evident with the infrastructure project that was successfully built under Official Development Assistance through the Export-Import Bank of Korea such as the recently completed Samar Pacific Coastal Road Project in Northern Samar.
In his message, Sadain mentioned some of the infrastructure development plans under the “Build Better More” infrastructure program of the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

According to him, collaborations between the Republic of Korea and the Philippines continue to thrive, with a focus on future-oriented projects such as the Panguil Bay Bridge Project in Northern Mindanao, Pampanga Integrated Disaster Risk and Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation in Central Luzon and detailed engineering design (DED) activities for the Panay-Guimaras-Negros Island Bridges, a long-time dream project for the people of Western Visayas.
The Republic of Korea’s unwavering support for the Philippines in infrastructure development exemplifies the power of international partnerships and as time goes on, this enduring friendship continues to shine as a beacon of cooperation and goodwill on the world stage.
