A new 154.8-meter bridge on the Minuhang Cabarasan Road is now providing residents ease of travel to other parts of Barangay Minuhang, in Barugo town, Leyte.
Citing a report from Region 8 Director Nerie Bueno, DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said the DPWH Leyte 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO) has recently completed the new permanent P142.3-million two-lane bridge to replace the old footbridge used by residents to cross an estuary to other areas of Barangay Minuhang.
“In the past, only habal-habal (motorcycles) can cross the old footbridge just to get to the other side. The old structure also becomes impassable during high tide,” said Villar.
“Local residents will be able to use other types of vehicles to swiftly travel to schools, hospitals, and bigger markets.”
“We are glad that with the completion of a new Minuhang Bridge, local residents will be able to use other types of vehicles to swiftly travel to schools, hospitals, and bigger markets,” added the public works chief.
The new Minuhang Bridge along the Minuhang Cabarasan Road also functions as an alternate route for motorists traveling from Tacloban City to Ormoc City and vice versa.
