The Island Barangay of Mindoro in Bangar, La Union is now safe from extreme damages brought by flooding with the completion of a 207-lineal meter concrete dike constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) along Amburayan River.
Citing a report submitted by DPWH La Union 1st District Engineering Office, Secretary Mark Villar said that the flood control project was completed with a total budget allocation of P9.79 million funded under the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2020.
“This project will help protect both residents and their properties from hazards due to flooding when the river starts to overflow, especially during the rainy season.”

“With a sturdy dike like this, locals will no longer fear crossing Amburayan River going to Barangay Mindoro which is about 20-30 minutes away from Bangar town proper when traveling by bamboo raft or boat,” the public works chief added.
