The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of a revetment structure to prevent the overflow of Alamínos River in Barangay Pogo, Alaminos City, Pangasinan.
In his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan and Undersecretary Eugenio Pipo Jr., DPWH Region I Director Ronnel Tan said that the project provides the farming communities with a resilient barrier against the river’s surges, effectively mitigating the risk of flood during prolonged rainstorms and intense typhoons.
“This vital initiative is very important as it directly safeguards extensive agricultural lands surrounding the Alaminos River.”

The implementation of flood mitigation structures is the Department’s proactive measure to arrest the adverse impacts of natural calamities, prevent substantial losses in farm produce, and ensure the safety, food security and well-being of Filipinos while strengthening the local economies.

The construction of the revetment in Barangay Pogo was implemented by DPWH Region I from April 2023 to December 2023.
