The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a two-story school building in Gatol High School, Barangay San Roque, Bulalacao, Oriental Mindoro to accommodate the needs for classrooms of students.
Based on a report submitted by DPWH Region 4-B Director Gerald Pacanan, the P24-million school building project involves the construction of 8 classrooms that will cater to an approximate number of 161 students.
The school building will benefit high school learners from Barangays San Roque, Benli, and Nasucob.
“The provision of school buildings especially in far-flung areas are deemed necessary to increase educational interest of children, promote social activities, bridge gaps, and eventually decrease poverty in the long run.”

DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan commended DPWH Region 4B for the completion of the school building which now provides a conducive learning environment for about 80 percent of the students belonging to the Hanunuo Mangyan Tribe.
