DPWH BUILDS ROAD FOR MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL FISHERFOLK

Fishermen are now reaping the benefits of an access road constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) leading to the Community Fish Landing Center in the Municipality of Baliangao, Misamis Occidental.

Implemented by DPWH Misamis Occidental 1st District Engineering Office, the project covers the construction of 1,491.8 square meters of portland concrete cement pavement, earthworks, drainage, and slope protection structure all the way to the coast of Barangay Punta Miray.

“This access road project intends to benefit the community dependent on fishing as a source of livelihood and to eliminate poverty.”

DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan said that this access road project intends to benefit the community dependent on fishing as a source of livelihood and to eliminate poverty.

Local fishermen and business owners in the area have expressed their appreciation to the government for the road that now facilitates easier, safer, and faster transport of their products.

“Providing access roads are deemed necessary in rural communities that have so much potential products or goods but are isolated,” Bonoan stressed.

Aside from fishing-related activities, the road also opened opportunities for tourists to discover the beauty of northern beaches in Misamis Occidental.
