The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has facilitated improved mobility in Aurora Province by constructing a new bridge linking the communities of Barangay Dibut and Barangay Dibalo via Barangay Real in the Municipality of San Luis.
In his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan and Undersecretary Roberto Bernardo, DPWH Regional Office 3 Director Roseller Tolentino said that the two rural communities are now better-connected by a 90-lineal meter concrete bridge.
The P106.15-million project, which was implemented by the DPWH Aurora District Engineering Office (DEO), also included the construction of a 405-lineal-meter flood control structure and a 346.5-lineal-meter approach road.
“Locals used to brave an old, wooden, and worn-out Real Bridge that can only cater to light vehicles such as motorcycles.”
According to Tolentino, locals used to brave an old, wooden, and worn-out Real Bridge that can only cater to light vehicles such as motorcycles.
He added that other vehicles had to travel an additional 15 to 20 minutes to the barangays of Nonong and L. Pimentel just to cross the river, especially when the water rises during heavy rains and typhoons.
“With the completed project, residents of Barangays Dibut and Dibalo now have a more reliable bridge infrastructure with an increased carrying capacity to access hubs in the municipality such as the San Luis Town Center located in Barangay Poblacion,” Tolentino added.
