Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar has announced the start of work for the conversion of the Filinvest Tent in Muntinlupa City and the Philsports Arena formerly ULTRA in Pasig City, into two additional quarantine facilities in Metro Manila.
Villar said the Filinvest Tent will be converted into a quarantine facility with 108 beds.
“The government hopes to further convert more facilities to address hospital congestion.”
“We will be building makeshift hospital rooms for 156 patients at ULTRA and finish the works as fast as we can similar to what we have done at PICC,” added the public works chief.
The construction of the cubicles may be conducted offsite by workers as social distancing measure with assembling of the cubicles and finishing works to be performed in the actual site.
“With public-private partnership, the government hopes to further convert more facilities to address hospital congestion, and ensure efficient treatment of patients battling COVID-19 virus,” the public works head said.
The technical plans for both ULTRA and Filinvest Tent were approved by hospital design specialist Architect Dan Lichauco.
