DOTR EXTENDS MRT-3 OPERATING HOURS, ADDS TRAINS

Workers and students travelling late can now enjoy extended services of the MRT-3 as the rail line gives back time to the commuting public and accommodates more passengers—emphasizing the value of time for rest and with their families.

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon likewise ordered the deployment of additional trains to service more passengers and eliminate long queues at key stations during peak hours in the morning and afternoon, following his inspection of the MRT-3 last March 17.

Dizon ordered adding one train at the LRT-1 to offset the transport strike by Manibela.

Ang LRT-1 magdadagdag din ng one train today para habang mayroong transport strike ay may dagdag na tren,” the transportation chief said during a press conference with Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Don Artes.

“Malaking bagay ‘yan [MRT-3 extension] lalo na sa mga kababayan natin na ginagabi,” the transportation head added.

The evening operations of the MRT-3 every Monday to Friday have been extended to the following schedule:

– North Ave. Southbound (Closing time: 10:25 PM; Last Train Departure: 10:30 PM)
– Taft Ave. Northbound (Closing time: 11:04 PM; Last Train Departure: 11:09 PM)

Regular services during weekends will be implemented to give the trains its required regular maintenance.

Updated signages in all 13 stations are installed to guide commuters regarding the new train operating schedules.
