The Department of Tourism (DOT) and AirAsia Philippines Fly AirAsia have agreed to work together to further the promotion of Halal tourism offerings of the country.
“The Department of Tourism has recognized AirAsia Philippines as a Muslim-friendly airline with Air Asia providing Halal-certified meals on all its flights, and carrying Love the Philippines,” Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco said.
Frasco and AirAsia Philippines Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ricardo Isla led the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the DOT Central Office in Makati City, formalizing the commitment of the airline to providing Halal-certified meals in all of the airlines’ flights.
“Through this partnership, AirAsia will also support the Gastronomy Tourism programs of the Department of Tourism.”
“Through this partnership, AirAsia will also support the Gastronomy Tourism programs of the Department of Tourism, by featuring our country’s regional cuisine in their flights such as dishes from Davao’s ethnolinguistic tribes,” the tourism chief explained.
“The Department of Tourism will provide cultural sensitivity training to ensure AirAsia delivers world-class, faith-respectful services.”
“Co-marketing initiatives will prominently feature the ‘Love the Philippines’ branding, while the Department of Tourism will provide cultural sensitivity training to ensure AirAsia delivers world-class, faith-respectful services,” the tourism head added.
For its part, the DOT will provide training to its workforce related to the partnership in a bid to enhance the airline’s services and recognize AirAsia as a partner in Muslim-friendly tourism.
This also makes AirAsia Philippines as the first DOT-recognized Muslim-friendly airline in the Philippines.
“My heartfelt gratitude to AirAsia Philippines for partnering with us as our country takes flight towards Muslim-friendly tourism in the Philippines!” Frasco exclaimed.
Tourism Undersecretary for Muslim Affairs and Mindanao Promotions Myra Paz Valderrosa-Abubakar and AirAsia Philippines Santan Manager Pax Paloma served as witnesses to the partnership signing.
