The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) will celebrate World Blood Donor Day (WBDD) on June 14, 2021 with the theme “Give blood and keep the world beating” to raise global and national awareness on the need for blood.
As the world continues its efforts to tackle the ongoing pandemic, PRC calls for blood donation to continue to replenish its blood supply.
PRC assured it observes strict health protocols during blood donation and all technical staff are tested regularly to ensure the safety of all blood donors.
PRC’s focus in this year’s #WBDD campaign is the role of young people in ensuring a safe blood supply to encourage the youth for voluntary blood donation every three months and inspire others to do the same.
Despite the grave challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, giving blood remains an essential service.
“The people’s need for blood doesn’t stop.”
“The people’s need for blood doesn’t stop. PRC will always be open to help. Donate now! The blood that you will donate today will save lives tomorrow,” PRC Chairman and CEO Dick Gordon said.
“Contact the hotline 143 for urgent blood concerns.”
Gordon called on the people to get in touch through the 104 Red Cross chapters and 98 blood service facilities, or contact the hotline 143 for urgent blood concerns.
PRC remains as one of the top contributors of safe and quality blood supply in the country, saving millions of lives and improving the health and quality of life of many patients every day.
