Department of Health Secretary Ted Herbosa, along with Field Implementation and Coordination Team (FICT) NCR and South Luzon Undersecretary Nestor Santiago and FICT North and Central Luzon Undersecretary Enrique Tayag, Health Systems Development Team (HSDT) Undersecretary Lilibeth David, and Management Services Team Assistant Secretary Leonita Gorgolon, led the 2023 Ligtas Lakas Awarding Ceremony held in Bohol recently.
The ceremony recognized Centers for Health Development, BARMM Ministry of Health, and local government units’ immunization efforts in the nationwide implementation of COVID-19 vaccination, Measles Rubella bivalent Oral Polio Vaccines Supplemental Immunization (MROPVSIA) Activity, and other campaigns of the department.
Bohol Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado, Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Yap, and various Center for Health Development Regional Directors and Assistant Regional Directors attended the event.
“Let’s continue to improve our vaccination services.”
“Let’s continue to improve our vaccination services, increase demand for vaccination, identify common reasons and provide resolutions for vaccine hesitancy, ensure availability and sufficiency of vaccine and supply requirements, and strengthen surveillance and reporting of notifiable diseases,” Herbosa said.
The health chief stressed we need to go back to the basics.
“I call for collective action in vaccinating every child [below one year old] with one (1) dose of BCG, three (3) doses of OPV, three (3) doses of DPT-HiB-HepB, and two (2) doses of MCV.”

Herbosa asked all regions and local government units to reach 95% FIC (fully immunized child coverage) in 2024.
“The protection of every child against vaccine preventable diseases is one of our top priorities,” he concluded.
