DILG LAUDS ANGELES CITY FOR WOMEN, KIDS PROTECTION

Angeles City was recognized by the Department of the Interior and Local Government with 95% functionality in terms of Local Committee on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and Children, the highest adjectival rating.

This is through the efforts of the city government led by Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr., in undertaking programs combating violence against women and children.

Reports from the inter-agency’s monitoring team revealed in their audit that the performance of Angeles City has reached a high level of functionality.

Lazatin said his administration will continue to intensify its anti-trafficking related programs to further protect the welfare of children.

“We will not tolerate such wrongdoings in our city.”

“Kapakanan ng kabataan at kinabukasan ng Siyudad Angeles ang manganganib sa illegal trafficking at violence against women and children,” he added.

Ever since Lazatin took office, the Gender and Development Office has assisted 6,213 individuals. 

Ever since Lazatin took office, the Gender and Development Office, with the City Social Welfare and Development Office and Angeles City Police Office has assisted 6,213, through the VAWC desk.

To recall, he issued a marching order then to ensure that VAWC desks in each 33 barangay are activated.

Lazatin also convened the Local Council for Protection of Children last March 2024, to revisit and strengthen programs for protection of children.

Meanwhile, he thanked the DILG for commending the city to fight the seeds of illegal trafficking and VAWC, as well as the efforts of key offices to work hand-in-hand for the primary goal for the city – to eradicate trafficking in person and violence against women and children.
