The Civil Service Commission (CSC) announced that the Food Processing and Innovation Center (FPIC) of Davao leads the roster of recipients of the 2023 CSC Pagasa Award, one of the categories of the 2023 Search for Outstanding Government Workers.
FPIC-Davao generated numerous product concepts and prototypes, registered utility models, and served diverse customers including students, researchers, faculty, and food processors. It is also the first Regional Food Innovation Center established in the Philippines through the Department of Science and Technology’s (DOST) High Impact Technology Solutions program.
The CSC Pagasa Award is conferred pursuant to Executive Order No. 292, s. 1987 and its Implementing Rules and Regulations on an individual or group of individuals for outstanding contribution resulting from an innovative idea or outstanding performance which directly benefit more than one department of the government.
“Their collaborative efforts with multiple sectors have encouraged competition, inspired more students to pursue careers in food technology, and contributed to the advancement of the food processing industry in the Davao Region,” said CSC Chairperson Karlo Nograles.
In recognition of their remarkable achievements, DOST XI Supervising Science Research Specialist and FPIC-Davao Team Leader Mirasol G. Domingo, Senior Science Research Specialist Sheryl N. Napoco, Science Research Specialist II Dorothy Joy M. Candilas, and Chief Science Research Specialist Fred P. Liza will receive the 2023 CSC Pagasa Award during the Awards Rites on Wednesday, 14 February 2024, at the Malacañan Palace.
Two (2) other groups will also receive the award: the DOST – Philippine Nuclear Research Institute Honey Team composed of Scientist I/Supervising Science Research Specialist Angel T. Bautista VII and Senior Science Research Specialist Norman D. Mendoza, and the Palayamanan Project Team from Bulacan Agricultural State College composed of Associate Professor V and Team Leader Imelda S. Navarro, Associate Professor II Imee D. Esguerra, Associate Professors V Jennifer I. Guevarra and Anthony C. Ortega, and Associate Professor I Rhuelyn A. Ballaran.
For the individual category, the winners of the 2023 CSC Pagasa Awards are:
• Education Program Supervisor Venus M. Alboruto of the Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division of Surigao City;
• Senior Science Research Specialist Vanessa Joy F. Calderon of Department of Agriculture (DA) Regional Field Office II in Tuguegarao City;
• Associate Professor V Drolly P. Claravall of Isabela State University – Ilagan Campus in Ilagan City;
• Agricultural Center Chief IV Ericson N. Dela Cruz of Philippine Carabao Center in Muñoz City;
• Director III Ronnalee N. Orteza of DOST Philippine Science High School System – Ilocos Region Campus in San Ildefonso, Ilocos Sur; and
• Agriculturist II Relvin B. Paragua of DA Regional Office IV in Iloilo City.
