The Department of Social Welfare and Development XI has recognized the local government of the City of Mati in Davao Oriental for its social services programs.
During its 72nd-year celebration in Davao City, DSWD XI awarded the City of Mati LGU the Gawad Paglilingkod sa Sambayanan for its outstanding implementation of sustainable livelihood program-microenterprise development model.
The City of Mati LGU has committed to supporting Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) undertakings by giving support to monitoring, mentoring, and capacity-building activities to ensure the proper operation and management of all livelihood programs.
In summary, the City of Mati LGU has granted a total amount of P13,030,000 as Livelihood Assistance Grant to its constituents for the years 2020-2021 with a total 1,037 beneficiaries.
In 2022, there were a total of 2,558 beneficiaries receiving a total amount of P37,920,000.
Mati LGU also bagged the Gawad sa Makabagong Teknolohiyang Panlipunan Award as the Best New Social Technology with its PagHILOM Project.
Mati LGU also bagged the Gawad sa Makabagong Teknolohiyang Panlipunan Award as the Best New Social Technology with its PagHILOM (Healing Interventions Leading to Optimum Management for victims of torture and enforced disappearances) Project.
Through the PagHILOM Project, beneficiaries and their respective families were able to recover and overcome their traumatic experiences thereby empowering them.
The City Government of Mati also implemented the YakapBayan Program for recovering persons who use drugs.

In her message upon receiving the two awards, City of Mati Mayor Michelle Nakpil Rabat expressed her gratitude to the national government thru the DSWD for their support to the Matinians during the pandemic.
“I am lucky I have seen you work, especially the DSWD working in the LGU. How committed you are to your work. Your commitment and passion to work is there in order to help everyone in need,” Rabat said.
