Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte discussed his openness to pursue a partnership with Chinese giant company, Huawei, in a courtesy call and business meeting with Huawei Technologies Philippines, Inc.,
Leon Guo, Huawei Philippines Regional Department Director expressed interest to work with Duterte via public-private industrial collaboration particularly on renewable energy and education.
“Huawei has long been providing the country with communications technology infrastructure and would want to pursue more partnerships towards digital transformation.”

The mayor positively responded to the invitation, including a visit to Huawei’s headquarters in China sometime this year.
Duterte says he is very interested in what the company can do especially in terms of improving our security system, as well as in the traffic signalization projects of Davao City.
“I am also interested in the modernization of City Hall transactions such as online and paperless business registration and permit applications.”
He further expressed support after hearing Jeffy Zhu, Huawei Mindanao Regional Account Manager, present possibilities on smart cities, renewable energy projects, and modernization of City Hall transactions such as online and paperless business registration and permit applications.
Both parties are optimistic towards future prospects in the field of job generation, cargo and logistics after pledging to actively collaborate and firm up details in their first public-private industrial partnership focused on digitalization and technology.
