DAVAO CITY GETS 2 MORE MODULAR HOSPITALS – VILLAR

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has provided additional hospital facilities for patients of government-run Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) in Bajada, Davao City.

Secretary and Isolation Czar Mark Villar said that two units of modular hospital with a total bed capacity of 44 were completed for the treatment of moderate to severe COVID-19 patients.

“This new medical facility will help alleviate overcrowding of SPMC patients.”

“This new medical facility put up by the DPWH Task Force to Facilitate Augmentation of Local/National Health Facility together with Regional Office 11 will help alleviate overcrowding of SPMC patients,” Villar added.

According to Undersecretary Emil Sadain, head of DPWH Task Force to Facilitate Augmentation of Local/National Health Facility, the two new hospital building was turned-over for operation recently by DPWH Regional Office 11 Director Rey Peter Gille representing the public works chief to SPMC Medical Center Chief Dr. Ricardo Audan.

“The modular hospital facility has an air conditioned room with toilet and bath, ventilation system with high-efficiency particulate absorbing filters, standby generators and medical gas system.”

“To support the response to pandemic, DPWH with its partner contractor Nationstar Development Corporation, fast-tracked the modular hospital facility that has air conditioned room with toilet and bath, ventilation system with high-efficiency particulate absorbing filters, standby generators, medical gas system, public address system and a nurse station,” Sadain added.

The DPWH Task Force to Facilitate Augmentation of Local/National Health Facility continues to address the threat of pandemic with the timely construction of healthcare facilities that include modular hospitals, temporary treatment and monitoring or quarantine/isolation facilities, and off-site dormitories for health workers.

To date, 758 healthcare facilities with a total capacity of 28,102 are operational nationwide.


Completed were 685 quarantine/isolation facilities with 26,329 beds, 22 modular hospitals with 453 beds, and 51 off-site dormitories with 1,320 beds.
