BHW Party-list Representative Angelica Natasha Co expressed her gratitude to the entire Senate for approving the proposed Magna Carta of Barangay Health Workers on 3rd and final reading.
“Matapos po ang mahabang panahong paghihintay, pasado na po sa Senado ang ating Magna Carta for BHW sa 3rd and Final Reading,” Co said.
“Buong puso pong nagpapasalamat ang #BHWPartylist at lahat ng BHW kay Senator JV Ejercito at sa ating mga kaibigan sa Senado na sumuporta sa ating panukala para sa mga BHW,” the lady legislator stressed.
“A few more steps left before the Magna Carta of Barangay Health Workers becomes a law for over 200,000 BHWs nationwide, their families, and their communities.”

This Magna Carta of BHWs should address definitively the years-long struggles of BHWs for better compensation, benefits, security of tenure, and respect,” the lawmaker added.
She is chairperson of the House committee on the welfare of children and vice chairperson of the House committee on health.
“It is just a matter of time now.”
“We are relentless in pushing for this bill because this will directly benefit BHWs, children, and mothers. Sixteen bills were filed in the Senate and consolidated into SB 2838. Senate President Francis Escudero and Senator JV Ejercito were all-in with the support, as well as the other senators. These are why we have been confident of the bill’s passage. It is just a matter of time now,” Co said.
“Konting tumbling na lang magiging batas na ang Magna Carta of Barangay Health Workers. Sobrang daming tumbling na namin sa BHW Party-list at BHW federations, pero hindi kami titigil hangga’t hindi nagiging batas at naipapatupad nang maayos ang Magna Carta for BHWs,” she concluded.
