The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) celebrated its 126th Founding Anniversary, underscoring the significant milestones achieved under the “Build Better More” Program.
This year’s theme, “Serbisyong May Bilis: Building Better More for a New Philippines,” highlights the department’s commitment to speed and quality in infrastructure development, emphasizing integrity and the efficient use of public funds.
“I encourage each and every one to maintain high standards, ensuring that each project enhances the nation’s welfare.”
In his message, DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan encouraged the workforce to maintain high standards, ensuring that each project enhances the nation’s welfare.
The high trust ratings from Pulse Asia’s Ulat ng Bayan Survey and OCTA Research’s Tugon ng Masa Survey, along with the continued ISO 9001:2015 certification, reflect the department’s dedication to transparency and accountability.
“Each project will be a testament to our commitment to serving the Filipino people and to building a nation that is robust, inclusive, and ready for the future,” Bonoan said.
For 126 years, DPWH has been at the forefront of nation building, striving to establish the highest quality of infrastructure that support the needs, ambitions, and purpose of each and every Filipino.
The anniversary events included a eucharistic mass; recognition of retirees and loyalty awardees; and awards for outstanding one (1) regional and three (3) district engineering offices in terms of technical, planning, financial, procurement, stakeholder responsiveness and strategic performance management.
Region 1 Director Ronnel Tan received the back-to-back award for Most Outstanding Regional Office among 16 Regions nationwide.

The top three (3) among the 195 DEOs are Pangasinan 1st DEO headed by District Engineer Marieta Mendoza and followed by Pangasinan 4th DEO under District Engineer Mel Harvey Gonzales and La Union 2nd DEO under District Engineer Gil Lorenzo.
Winners of the recently concluded 2024 National Engineers Olympiad, Unity Cup, and DPWH Sportsfest were also recognized in the program.
Other activities in line with the DPWH 126 Anniversary are the Simultaneous Nationwide Tree Planting Activity; One Town, One Product Exhibit; Employees’ Bazaar; and an Employees Night.
