Going to scenic Binadlan Falls in Binalbagan, Negros Occidental is now easier and safer with the completion by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) of a 2.5-kilometer access road leading to the area.
Secretary Mark Villar said that the P63.53-million road improvement project completed in February 2021 was implemented by the DPWH Negros Occidental 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO).
Citing collective reports from DPWH Regional Office 6 Director Lea Delfinado and District Engineer Rolando Valdez, Villar further explained that newly-built road was constructed with a 6.10-meter wide, 230-millimeter thick Portland Concrete Cement Pavement (PCCP), including provision of shoulders, drainage, slope protection, and safety devices.
“The previous road usually turns muddy especially during the rainy season.”
“The access road will facilitate ease of travel to the nature attraction site of Binadlan Falls by local and foreign tourists as compared to the previous hard and uncomfortable commute along the road’s old state that usually turns muddy especially during the rainy season,” the public works chief noted.
According to Delfinado, the now concreted road has provided a convenient way for local folks particularly those from Barangay Bi-ao to transport their products to the town.
“The road also serves as the major access to the upper barangays of Binalbagan town as well as to many tourist attractions in the southern portion of Negros Occidental.”
“The project is significant as the road also serves as the major access to the upper barangays of Binalbagan town as well as to many tourist attractions in the southern portion of Negros Occidental,” she added.
Meanwhile, the public works head lauded the DPWH’s Regional and District Offices for continuously providing significant infrastructure projects towards economic and social development of the country despite the health risks and threats brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.
