The House Committee on Energy approved the draft substitute bills authored by the Power Bloc Representatives honoring the invaluable contributions and promoting the interests of lineworkers.
Previously deliberated during a Technical Working Group held last March 15, the draft substitute bills include House Bills No. 471, 472, and 3247.
After presenting the draft substitute bills, the Committee unanimously approved the aforementioned legislative measures.
HB 471 aims to establish the Lineman Training Academy of the Philippines seeking to address the shortage of linemen by institutionalizing government intervention such as free training to develop qualified linemen to construct, maintain, and operate the country’s power grid.
To honor the lineworkers, House Bill No. 472 seeks to declare the First Monday of August Every Year as Linemen Appreciation Day to recognize their contribution to nation-building.
Lastly, House Bill 3247 pushes for the mandatory insurance benefit and coverage of all lineworkers in the power industry.
After presenting the draft substitute bills, the Committee unanimously approved the aforementioned legislative measures.

Energy Committee Vice Chair and PHILRECA Rep. Presley De Jesus, on behalf of the Power Bloc, expressed his gratitude for the speedy approval of the House Bills.
