The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) targets to partially open this May 2021 the Sta. Monica-Lawton Bridge which is a major component of the BGC-Ortigas Road Link Project.
DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said that the superstructure of the Sta Monica-Lawton Bridge connecting Lawton Avenue in Makati City and Sta. Monica Street in Pasig City across the Pasig River is already finished.

In his report to the public works chief, DPWH Undersecretary for Unified Project Management Office (UPMO) Operations Emil Sadain said that other than the finishing touches at the Sta. Monica-Lawton Bridge, UPMO Roads Management Cluster 1 is presently undertaking full blast works for the rehabilitation and widening of Brixton Street (corner Reliance Street) to Fairlane Street.
“The center main span of the Sta. Monica-Lawton Bridge was built of segmental box girder thru balanced cantilever construction method.” Sadain explained.
“Cluster 1 has a total length of 476.577 meters, 159.629 meters approach road at abutment 1, and 125 meters up and down ramp between pier 8 to 13,” he added.
The four-lane two-way bridge was inspected by Sadain together with UPMO Roads Management Cluster 1 (UPMO-RMC 1) Project Director Virgilio Castillo, Project Managers Benjamin Bautista and Ricarte Manalac, and Engr Reynaldo Perez of Persan Construction.
Also part of the project that will traverse Lawton Avenue to the entrance of BGC is the construction of Lawton Avenue – Global City Viaduct with on-going preparation for bored piling at BGC and road widening at 8th Avenue.
“The road project will cut to 12 minutes the one-hour-long drive between the BGC and Ortigas business districts.”
“The 1.367-km Bonifacio Global City-Ortigas Center Link Road Project is part of the Metro Manila Logistics Network which will cut to 12 minutes the one-hour-long drive between the BGC and Ortigas business districts,” the public works head said.
“The entire project, which will improve accessibility between cities of Pasig, Mandaluyong, Taguig and Makati and alleviate traffic congestion at EDSA and C-5,” he stressed, “is targeted for full completion by September 2021.”
