Bayaning Tsuper Party-list first nominee Atty. Aminola “Alex” Abaton has met with the senior citizens of Caloocan City.
According to Atty. Abaton, the meeting is part of a series of dialogues being conducted with various road users to assess the distinct requirements of the sectors, so they may be truly represented in Congress.
Senior citizens have particular requirements. Thus, to address these, the solutions must be tailor-made.
Referring to the party-list’s name, he explained: “Ang ‘tsuper’ kapag pinakinggan mo, akala mo na ang tanging nirerepresenta niya ay ‘yung hanay ng driver. Pero hindi po. Pagdating sa ating mga programa, buo po ito–mapa-babae, mapa-lalaki, elderly, o bata–lahat po saklaw ng ating programa dahil gumagamit sila ng lansangan.”
He added that senior citizens have particular requirements. Thus, to address these, the solutions must be tailor-made.
“Kasi kapag nagkaka-edad tayo, nangangailangan na tayo ng espesyal na atensyon. Dapat ding dinggin ang pangangailangan ng mga senior citizens, ninyo, upang maisali ang mga programang nakatuon para inyo at sa inyong kaligtasan,” he emphasized.
During the meeting, Atty. Abaton intimated one of his goals for the senior citizens.
“Ang pangarap ko po ay magkaroon ng mobile clinic para kung ‘san man kayo, hindi n’yo na kailangang pumunta pa sa malayo. Kami mismo ang pupunta sa inyo. ‘Yung clinic na ang bababa sa inyo,” he revealed.
For her part, United Elderly Association of Camarin President Rita Carpio noted the role that drivers play in the senior citizens’ daily life. Further, she underscored the need to support them to ensure safer roads.
“Ang mga tsuper ay galing sa atin–mga anak, apo, o kapatid natin ‘yan. Bilang mga senior citizens at riding public, malaki ang role na ginagampanan ng mga tsuper sa ating buhay. Hinahatid nila tayo ng ligtas sa ating pupuntahan. Kaya nararapat lang na suportahan natin sila.”
Present during the consultation were the officers and members of the United Elderly Association of Camarin and PAMANA Elderly of Bagong Silang.
