The provincial government of Bataan has launched the “Bring your own Baunan” (BYOB) or bring your own food container program to show support for the observance of Philippine Environment Month this June.
Governor Albert Garcia said under the program, capitol employees and other customers patronizing the canteen at The Bunker are given a discount of P5 if they bring their own food container but charged an additional P10 in the absence of the container.

The canteen operated by a concessionaire is on the fourth floor of the six-story The Bunker that replaced the Bataan capitol as the new seat of the provincial government.
“Every week, more than 10,000 pieces of straw, food containers, glasses, forks, and spoons made of plastic are among the garbage collected at The Bunker.”

“Layon ng programang ito na mabigyang diin na malaki ang maitutulong ng pagdadala ng sariling baunan upang mabawasan ang paggamit ng single use plastic bilang aktibong pakikibahagi upang mabawasan ang epekto ng nangyayaring climate change,” the governor said in a social media post.
He urged employees of other offices and agencies at The Bunker to join and cooperate in their goal to preserve and protect the environment.
Also holding offices at the former capitol site are branches of different banks and national government agencies.
