Bacolod City, through its City Planning and Development Office (CPDO), Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), and the Bacolod Environment and Natural Resources Office (BENRO), participated in combating climate change and promote environmental awareness through a partnership with the Climate Reality Project Philippines that culminated in a Reality Tour recently at the Citadines Hotel, Bacolod City.
The event brought together a distinguished group of leaders, including Mayor Albee Benitez, Former US Vice President and Climate Reality Project Founder Al Gore, CPDO Head Dr. Mary Jean Ramos, Climate Change Commission Commissioner Atty. Rachel Anne Herrera, Constantino Foundation President and Managing Director Renato Constantino, Energy Regulatory Commission Chief of Staff Atty. Josine Alexandra Gamboa, Climate Reality Project Philippines Branch Manager Nazrin Camille Castro, 350 Pilipinas Regional Finance Campaigner Cesar Carlito Baclagon, AktivAsia Country Lead Francis Joseph Dela Cruz, Oscar M. Lopez Center Executive Director Dr. Rodel Lasco, and participants from across the Philippines.
In his opening speech, Benitez emphasized the collective responsibility of all stakeholders to promote environmental awareness and create initiatives for sustainable development.

Climate Reality Project Philippines Deputy Branch Manager and Program Lead Aimee Oliveros hosted the event and featured a series of discussions such as Global Climate Impacts and Solutions, an Overview of the Climate Crisis and Pathways Forward, Climate Change Impacts and Actions at the Community Level, Tools for Mobilizing Communities, Shaping Discourse, Running Climate Campaigns, and a Panel Session on the Paris Agreement and Climate Action Based on Science and Justice.
Participants also engaged in a Networking Session to further strengthen their climate advocacy efforts.
This collaboration between the City of Bacolod and the Climate Reality Project highlights the city’s commitment to making an effort toward environmental sustainability and increasing public awareness of the urgent need for climate action.
