ANGARA SUPPORTS SAMAR EDUCATION PROGRAMS

In an executive session during the recent visit of Department of Education Secretary Sonny Angara, Governor Sharee Ann Tan highlighted the banner programs of the Province of Samar, particularly those aimed at youth development.  

Tan expressed her vision for Samar to be recognized not only as a youth-friendly province but also as a community that nurtures proactive and future-ready change-makers.

“I commend Governor Sharee Anne Tan’s dedication and the province’s initiatives.”

Angara commended the lady governor’s dedication and the province’s initiatives, noting his admiration for the inspiring programs presented and the proactive approach taken by the provincial government.

The education chief pledged his full support for these efforts.

A key initiative showcased was SIRAK Kabataan, the province’s flagship youth development program launched in 2021. This program applies a Systems Approach and Bridging Leadership framework to address the diverse challenges faced by young people.

Under SIRAK Kabataan, several sub-programs and projects have been implemented, each designed to empower the youth and equip them with essential skills for the future.

Under SIRAK Kabataan, several sub-programs and projects have been implemented, each designed to empower the youth and equip them with essential skills for the future such as, SIRAK Academy, YES Awards, One Values, Purple Desk, Joint Programme on Accelerating the Reduction of Adolescent Pregnancy (JPARAP), ProtecTeen, Tara, Basa, JobsNext, and Center for Developmental Pediatrics among others. 

These programs underscore the vital role of youth in nation-building, ensuring they are not only empowered but also prepared for the future.

By addressing education, leadership, health, and employment, SIRAK Kabataan continues to pave the way for a more progressive and youth-centered Samar.
