AnaKalusugan Party-list continues to push for better healthcare services and expressed full support for the government’s plan to build more specialty hospitals in the regions.
“We thank the President for his commitment to bringing healthcare closer to the people and we laud his lofty goal of establishing an additional 179 specialty centers by 2028,” AnaKalusugan Party-list Rep. Ray T. Reyes said.
Reyes, who is the Vice Chairperson of the House Committee on Health, also said that for 2024, P11.12 billion has been earmarked to build additional specialty centers in the regions.
“Bilang isa sa mga unang nagsulong ng pagkakaroon ng specialty hospitals sa mga kanayunan, makakaasa po ang ating mga kababayan sa ating lubos at patuloy na suporta sa programang ito,” he added.
Reyes was one of the early proponents of building Regional Specialty Centers.
He filed House Bill No. 3134 which was enacted as Republic Act 11959 or Regional Specialty Centers Act and signed August last year.
According to him, as of December 2023, 131 functional specialty centers have been built through the Regional Specialty Centers Act.
“This is a perfect example of a law working for the people. By bringing these specialty centers closer to our people, we reassure our kababayans that wherever you are in the Philippines, you can have access to affordable, specialized care,” Reyes said.
Reyes, who is the Vice Chairperson of the House Committee on Health, also said that for 2024, P11.12 billion has been earmarked to build additional specialty centers in the regions.
“We need to make specialized medical services accessible to people in the provinces and unburden them from the unnecessary travel and other expenses,” he said.
“Sa tulong ng batas na ito, umaasa po tayo na hindi na kakailanganin pang bumyahe ng malayo ng ating mga kababayan para matugunan ang kanilang mga pangangailangang pangkalusugan,” he added.
