“Flood protection structures with a total of length of 912.04 linear meters were built along Barangay Osmeña section of the Upper Agusan River.”
“Costing P31.07 million, the flood mitigation project included the construction of a 234.43-linear-meter gabion-type revetment with closures at the left bank and separate earth dikes at the right bank measuring 677.61 linear meters,” Cordon explained.
“There are also 207.89 linear meters of gabion foot protection, a channel excavation and the installation of minor drainage structures,” she added.
“With the newly-completed protective structures, rising waters from the Upper Agusan River during the typhoon and monsoon seasons is no longer a threat to nearby residential areas, banana plantations, corn fields, and other farmlands in Barangay Osmeña,” Cordon stressed.
The DPWH Davao de Oro Second District Engineering Office (DEO) implemented the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA)-funded project from February 2023 to August 2023.
