DPWH COMPLETES APAYAO ROAD UPGRADE

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) successfully completed a road improvement project aimed at enhancing connectivity and supporting local industries in Kabugao, Province of Apayao.

The completed P73.01-million project involved the construction of a 1.56-kilometer, two-lane paved road with drainage system and slope protection in the mountainous area of Barangay Madduang.

According to the report to DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan by DPWH Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) Regional Director Khadaffy Tanggol, the project improves access to Barangays Madduang and neighboring Barangays Dagara and Maragat, where insufficient infrastructure previously hindered economic activities and isolated communities during the rainy season.

“This road development project will significantly boost the local economy.”

“This road development project will significantly boost the local economy by facilitating the transport of agricultural goods, such as rice, corn, and coffee, as well as supporting industries like blacksmithing, handicrafts, and furniture-making,” Tanggol said.

“Aligned with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s Build Better More Program and his vision of Bagong Pilipinas, we aim to improve connectivity in the countryside like Barangay Madduang which now have better access to essential services, economic opportunities, and neighboring areas, reducing travel difficulties and enhancing the overall quality of life,” he added.
