DOT PROMOTES PH AS PREMIER GOLF DESTINATION

The much-anticipated gathering of golf enthusiasts, industry leaders, and stakeholders commenced recently at the Marriott Manila, with the Philippines headlining as a premier golf destination.

Speaking in a pre-recorded video message, Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco emphasized the DOT’s commitment to positioning the Philippines as a global golf hub.

“With over 100 breathtaking golf courses across the country, we are ready to welcome the world to discover our fairways, rich culture, and the warmth of Filipino hospitality.”

At the ribbon-cutting ceremony marking day one of the two-day celebration of golf, tourism, and business collaborations, Undersecretaries Shahlimar Hofer Tamano and Ferdinand Jumapao represented the tourism chief.

From immersive panel discussions to on-site club fittings, a Golf Apparel Fashion Show, and a live podcast, the activities showcased the depth of the golfing experience in the Philippines.

The event also tackled the economic opportunities that golf tourism presents, aligning with the government’s efforts to diversify and elevate the tourism sector.

Other DOT officials present at the opening day included Assistant Secretary Judylyn Quiachon, Director for Golf Tourism Lyle Fernando Uy, Director Azucena Pallugna, Regional Directors Richard Daenos (RO-III), Marites Castro (RO-IV A), Judy Gabato (RO-VII), Karina Tiopes (RO-VIII), Nelia Arina (RO-XII).

Meanwhile, members of the diplomatic corps present included Ambassadors Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino of Malaysia, Harsh Kumar Jain of India, and Lai Thai Binh of Vietnam.
